Natural skincare, without the excess.

For years, skincare has grown more complicated. Facial routines have become longer, products have multiplied, and so have ingredient lists.

ADEPSIA takes the opposite approach: clearer natural skincare, built around a short formula and ingredients selected for their role. One balm can replace several steps in a face and body care routine.

A short formula with four ingredients

Purified beef tallow, plant-based jojoba oil, beeswax and essential oils. Four ingredients, four functions, without a build-up of unnecessary actives.

Care for face, body and hair

One balm for facial care, dry areas of the body and the lengths of your hair. Fewer products, a simpler routine.

The substance and texture of purified beef tallow

Beef tallow at the heart of natural skincare.

Beef Tallow is purified beef fat. This animal-derived raw material is naturally rich in lipids and fatty acids, which give it its dense texture and make it useful in cosmetic balms.

Beef tallow: beef fat transformed into a skincare ingredient

Purified for cosmetic use, tallow becomes a stable ingredient that melts on contact. It forms the fatty base of the balm and naturally contributes much of its lipid profile.

Fatty acids, the skin barrier and comfort

Tallow contains saturated and monounsaturated fatty acids, among others. In a skincare formula, these lipids help nourish the skin, support its barrier and limit the moisture loss that causes dry skin to feel uncomfortable.

An ideal base for a water-free balm

Unlike a conventional cream, Le Baume ADEPSIA has no water phase. Its concentrated formula combines tallow, jojoba oil, beeswax and essential oils: only a small amount is needed each time.

The benefits of beef tallow for skin.

Beef tallow naturally contains a concentration of lipids, fatty acids, fat-soluble vitamins and antioxidant compounds. This profile makes beef tallow a particularly interesting raw material for natural skincare and formulas designed to support the skin barrier.

Natural vitamins A, D, E & K

Beef tallow naturally provides fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K. They contribute to the richness of the raw material and complement its lipid and fatty acid profile.

Essential fatty acids — Omega-3 & Omega-6

Omega-3 and Omega-6 complement tallow's fatty acid profile. They help maintain the skin barrier and support the skin in preserving its moisture, suppleness and comfort.

Lipids close to those naturally present in the skin

Tallow's lipid profile shares several fatty acids with human sebum. This similarity explains its affinity with the skin and its value in care designed to nourish and support the skin's protective barrier.

Antioxidants

The antioxidant compounds naturally present in the raw material help protect the skin from oxidative stress and maintain its supple, nourished and comfortable appearance.

An ingredient that nourishes, protects and supports the skin.

Rich in fatty acids, lipids and fat-soluble vitamins, beef tallow helps preserve the skin barrier, limit moisture loss and maintain the skin's suppleness.

At ADEPSIA, this raw material is purified, then combined with jojoba oil, beeswax and essential oils to create a concentrated, water-free balm designed for face, body and hair.

A minimalist approach to skincare

One balm designed for multiple uses, with a rich, water-free texture.

Beef tallow in skincare: a history spanning thousands of years.

Long before modern cosmetic shelves, fats already played an important role in preparations for the body.

Antiquity — Animal fats in ointments

Oils, waxes and fats form the bases of many preparations for the body.

Greece & Rome — Body care becomes a ritual

Oiling, massaging and protecting the skin are part of body care practices.

Across the centuries — Practices passed down

Animal fats remain part of many homemade preparations.

20th century — Gradually forgotten

Modern emulsions and new raw materials change everyday cosmetics.

Today — The return of beef tallow

Water-free formulas, short ingredient lists and beef tallow are returning to skincare routines.

A natural facial care routine: simple and versatile.

On the face

On the face

Take a small amount of balm, warm it between your fingers, then apply with gentle pressing motions. On slightly damp skin, this helps retain the water already present on the surface.

On the body

On the body

Apply to hands, elbows, legs and dry areas. The rich texture of tallow and jojoba oil leaves the skin supple and comfortable.

On the hair

On the hair

Work a minimal amount between your fingers, then apply sparingly to lengths or ends. Just a trace is enough to smooth and nourish without weighing hair down.

Frequently asked questions

Beef tallow skincare:
your questions, our answers.

Yes, beef tallow suits the vast majority of skin types. Its biomimetic fatty acid profile, almost identical to human sebum, makes it compatible with dry, sensitive, reactive and mature skin. Combination to oily skin can also benefit, provided it is applied in small amounts.

No, beef tallow is not comedogenic in its purified form. It is considered unlikely to clog pores. Its skin-identical fatty acid composition tends to regulate sebum production rather than stimulate it, making it suitable even for mildly acne-prone skin.

Raw beef tallow has a characteristic smell. At Adepsia, successive artisanal warm-water rinses purify the tallow until it is practically odourless. The subtle woody note you may notice comes from the formula's frankincense and cedar elixir, rather than the tallow itself.

Beef tallow is simply the English term for suif de bœuf. The English term is more commonly used in international clean beauty communities and English-language skincare content. Product quality depends above all on the origin and how the cattle are raised, with grass-fed being the key criterion.

Beef tallow quality rests on three criteria: how the cattle are raised (grass-fed, ideally on extensive pasture), how it is purified (thermal rinsing without chemical solvents) and its colour (ivory white to lightly creamy). Adepsia uses tallow from grass-fed cattle and purifies it using artisanal methods, without any solvents.

Yes, for most skin types, Adepsia balm can replace a conventional moisturising cream. Its water-free formula with 100 % active ingredients is more concentrated than a conventional cream (which contains 70 to 90 % water). A tiny amount is enough (about the size of a grain of wheat), allowing a 120 ml jar to last several months with daily use.

No, beef tallow is an animal-derived lipid. It is not compatible with a vegan lifestyle. Adepsia does not claim vegan certification and openly embraces the animal origin of its formula, which it sees as one of its most distinctive nourishing attributes.

No, Adepsia balm does not have organic certification. The tallow comes from grass-fed cattle raised on extensive pasture and is purified without solvents or additives. The balm is formulated and made in France in small batches. We prefer to describe our practices precisely rather than claim a label we do not have.
